This new edition is even more flexible, providing students reminders of strategies printed on standard labels and carried with them in a small booklet. The idea behind this CD/workbook package is that once a student has learned a strategy for overcoming behaviors that may be causing him or her problems, presented in the Sticker Strategies CD and book, the instructor sticks the strategy sticker in a flip notebook. The student carries the flip book with him/her throughout the day. With the flip book, the student can easily and discretely refer to the strategies s/he already learned to solve problems with independence. The result is fewer behavioral breakdowns and classroom disruptions, while teaching self-reliance and problem-solving anytime, anywhere.

This is a great tool for a student that recognizes his/her weaknesses and is motivated to improve. This tool is not effective for students that either don’t realize that they need improvement or who aren’t motivated to help themselves.

While originally developed for use with students with social cognitive learning challenges (the higher end of the autism spectrum, ADHD, NLD, etc.), these strategies can easily be applied to any child who needs that strong visual reminder which is a much more powerful teacher than an adult’s “nag.” Teaching materials included on CD for easy printing.

2nd Edition - more flexible, much more cost effective!

Now, not only can you print however many strategies you want onto a variety of flip books, but you can customize and save the formatted stickers in Word for individual students or behaviors and add your own notes in the Word document. The previous book included actual stickers, making the book expensive to print. This CD/book package is half the earlier version's price and even more versatile!

The strategies span over 6 topics:

  1. Asking for Help
  2. Emotions and Problem Solving
  3. Organization, Writing, and Homework
  4. Group Work
  5. Social Thinking
  6. Family Time- Home Strategies

Sticker Strategies on the CD and in the book enhance the lessons of the previous book, including learning how to respond appropriately to the size of problems, understanding the Spirals of Social Success and Social Failure and strategies related to the Levels of Friendships - how to keep friends and be friendly as appropriate to these levels.

If you have the previous version, it's still good! You can download, print and tape or, if using Avery labels stick to your 4"x6" spiral-bound notepad the two new Spiral of Social Success and Spiral of Social Failure labels! Note: every printer is different so the format of this standard PDF might cause some printers to trim a small portion of the border if printed onto labels, not affecting the actual sticker message - and you can also just print and tape or paste without using the Avery labels.

Avery labels for Sticker Strategies: 5168 (for laser printers) or 8168 (for ink jets) Click to go the Avery site to see the labels and get templates if needed. Prices may be better on other sites or stores - most office supply stores carry these items, but call ahead. The 4"x6" cards, spiral notebook and labels are not included in the package.

Recommended Teaching & Learning Pathway

Sticker Strategies is more powerful when taught with other materials. Teaching social concepts should follow a natural sequence, from simple to complex, to support student learning. The following Teaching & Learning Pathway outlines the recommended teaching sequence by age group. As with our products, this pathway is relevant to clinicians, educators, parents—anyone helping a person develop their social competencies.
